PARIS THE CITY OF LOVE

Paris just the name alone invokes images of romance, sophistication, good food and excellent wine. Where better to begin your life journey together as a couple when staying in Paris than with a stay at Hotel Plaza Athénée Paris on the famous chestnut tree lined Avenue Montaigne just steps from the Champs Élysées and the Théâtre des Champs Élysées. The Hotel Plaza Athénée Paris is ideally situated for shopping and nearby designer salons include Christian Dior, Chanel, Max Mara, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Céline, Valentino, Calvin Klein and Hermès. Paris muséums and galléries including the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Grand Palais and the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde are all easily accessible from your hotel.

Begin your stay by transferring from the airport to your hotel in the seclusion and luxury of a stretch limousine or private car (or for larger parties, a luxury mini-bus) where your first glass of chilled French champagne can be enjoyed in the most efficient methods of arriving into the most romantic city in the world. Once you have checked in the pampered beginning to your stay can continue. A massage session might be the perfect way to unwind from your day of travel. Trained massage therapists can be reserved to massage couples in the peaceful surroundings of their room with the massage style of their choice.

For a wonderful welcome dinner, to relax before the festivities begin, a romantic dinner for two can be arranged at the Plaza Athénée’s gastronomic restaurant “Alain Ducasse” where you will be pampered and indulged in the great French tradition of eating. Unwinding from marriage preparations, couples can be rewarded with the perfect evening of indulgence and luxury under the twinkling, shimmering light of 10,000-crystal teardrops and a whole orchestrated service in only the way the French know how. Alternatively a “tête-à-tête” dinner for two can be arranged in their Eiffel Tower Suite, overlooking this world renowned monument, which delightfully lights up at sunset, shimmering like the most precious of jewels and from the couple’s privileged front seat, appears to be only for them.

If you prefer to spend the precious pre-wedding hours with wedding guests, an exclusive cocktail reception in the hotel’s magnificent Royal Suite, overlooking Avenue Montaigne, with 450m² of sheer luxury can be arranged. Or, invite close wedding guests down to their recently opened wine cellar where exclusive wine tasting can be organised for a group of 14 people from a selection of 35,000 bottles!

A romantic wedding ceremony and reception can be held in the Plaza Athénée’s “Marie-Antoinette” private function room, 935 ft² in an 18th Century style, overlooking their interior garden courtyard. Patio windows could be opened to organise a champagne reception immediately following the ceremony outside in their tranquil garden courtyard “Cour Jardin” with a harpist playing softly in the background. For décor inspiration; the Plaza Athénée is internationally renowned for its emblematic red, which can be found everywhere, from the trailing geranium flowers on the façade and courtyard windows to the cute Plaza-red teddy bears. An alternative for couples planning a winter wedding, would be to hold your wedding ceremony and champagne reception set amongst the snowy décor of the hotel’s mini ice rink, highlighting and complementing all the more, their festive red.
For the wedding dinner, when in France, do as the French, a long multi-coursed meal; starter, fish, meat, sorbet, cheese, dessert and ending with the famous “croquembouche” - the metre-high pyramid structure garnished with pastry-cream-filled-choux puffs and encircled with golden spun sugar. Guest treats could include the traditional French, sugar-coated almonds which are often distributed to guests by the flower girls.

For fun festivities following the wedding reception The Bar at the Plaza is now one of the places to be on the city’s map of nightlife. Share this special atmosphere with wedding guests, either in the crowd or privately amongst yourselves. Enjoy Patrick Jouin’s décor (one of Philippe Starck’s pupils) and experience the innovative Bar cocktails that can be eaten, sprayed or even drunk! Should you decide to take your celebrations outside of the hotel turn of the century public buses and horse and carriage are now available for hire. Both would make a huge impact and prove interesting in city traffic.
Sspecial historical locations and breathtaking views where wedding photographs can be arranged to be taken include the most famous which is being on the bridge “Alexandre III”, in front of the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero Gardens and from Montmartre with the sweeping city view.
Registry gift suggestions that you may wish to consider include Plaza’s special “Just Married Package” which consists of a two night minimum stay including fresh flowers, a morning after champagne breakfast, followed by full American breakfast, a special “Just-Married” doorknob sign and exclusive personalised embroidered pillow-case covers. Private custom tours to art galleries or museum visits, of the Parisian fashion houses, a cookery class, boat trip on the River Seine can be arranged just for two. With so many choices a honeymoon can last a lifetime!
